Project Piña aims to empower women within a small rural village of Matipwili, Tanzania to use pineapple leaves, an agricultural waste byproduct, and extract its fibres to create a fabric. Through adequate vocational training, they will learn basic business skills, and use this knowledge to create their own entrepreneurial businesses selling these fabrics for profit. Our mission is to import new and transferable skills to Tanzanian women who are eager to learn and preserve our environment’s natural resources. Ultimately, empower Tanzanian women to be seen as equal partners in decision making to support themselves, their families and their community.
